Twelve Days of Prayer for Transition 2017

Below is an outline to facilitate prayer during our transition. Please use it as a self-directed prayer guide.

Day 1 – Seeking God’s Face in Praise
Let us begin by praising God for His character and nature, His daily mercies, His provision, and His presence. Suggested Scripture: Psalm 139

Day 2 – Thank God for His Love
God showed His love for us through the indescribable sacrifice of Jesus Christ. It is the central message of the Gospel. Spend time thanking God for His love.

Suggested Scripture: 1 John 4:9-12

Day 3 – Prayer of Faith
We are people of faith. But what is faith? In reality, faith is belief + trust + risk. Will we go wherever God leads us? Pray that Christ will live in us as we believe Him, trust Him, and follow the Spirit’s leading.

Suggested Scripture: Hebrews 11

Day 4 – The Attitude of Christ
Followers of Jesus aspire to possess His attitude. After all, He came to this earth to serve, not to be served. Pray for the hearts and minds of our church during this transition.

Suggested Scripture: Philippians 2:1-11

Day 5 – Initiating the Gospel
God is calling us to “initiate” the Gospel. He has purposefully placed us in neighborhoods, schools, work places, etc. for this purpose. He is doing the same in this transition. Pray for discernment and boldness as we recommit to initiating the message of hope in our world.

Suggested Scripture: Acts 4:1-12

Day 6 – The Crowd
Wherever God leads Common Ground next, the crowd will already be there. Let us begin now to pray for them. Lift up men, women, kids, dads, moms, grandparents, the homeless, small business owners, and so on. Allow the Holy Spirit to direct the specifics of who to pray for in the crowd.

Suggested Scripture: Mark 6:30-37a

Day 7 – Inconvenienced
Being inconvenienced is normative for followers of Jesus. Will we have eyes to see the God appointments to love and serve others, even when the circumstances are inconvenient? Will we initiate? This is today’s prayer.

Suggested Scripture: Luke 5:1-11

Day 8 – Kaleo Church
Common Ground and Kaleo Church are both in transition. Lift up Kaleo’s members, Pastor Troy Hoppenrath, and their leaders. Pray for peace, discernment, provision, and direction. We are the Body of Christ.

Suggested Scripture: 1 John 4:9-12

Day 9 – The Next Location for Common Ground Church
So how should we pray for our community of faith? Please allow the Holy Spirit to direct this prayer. We are believing that God will direct our steps.

Suggested Scripture: Proverbs 16:1-9

Day 10 – Our Elders
Let us cover our spiritual leaders in prayer. Lift the names of these men and their wives. Pray that they will lead with wisdom and vision. Pray that they will live, first and foremost, for Christ. Pray for spiritual stamina, knowledge, unity, and humility. Also cover their families in prayer.

Suggested Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15:58

Day 11 – Our Community of Faith
Transitions are hard. Change is difficult. We need to keep one another covered in prayer. Lift up individuals and families. Pray for Life Community leaders. Cover children and youth ministry leaders and workers. Pray for worship leaders, tech arts, and other Sunday volunteers. Pray for new ministry leaders to rise up. Pray boldly in faith, for our God has already gone before us.

Suggested Scripture: Ephesians 4:1-16

Day 12 – Getting Ready To Serve People
Everything hinges on one foundational truth: God loves us! The Great Exchange of Jesus, who bore our sins to give us access to Almighty God, is nothing short of a miracle. God wants to use Common Ground to share Good News across the greater Portland/Vancouver metro area. Will we love and serve others like Jesus did for us? Please commit this to prayer today.

Suggested Scripture: John 13:1-17
